Green Beaver: Sunscreen, Lip balm & Lip gloss

Green Beaver is a Canadian company, made up of husband Alain Ménard and wife Karen Clark, who decided to make products for their son Joshua that did not contain harmful chemicals. According to the Green Beaver site, 60% of what we put on our skin goes straight into our bloodstream. That’s a scary number, especially when you think about those with allergies, it’s always best to read labels to avoid contamination.

Along with being environmentally conscious, Green Beaver makes an assortment of vegan and gluten free health and beauty products. I’ve written about the lip shimmers before – click here to read about it. Sorry US friends, you can only buy online, all retail shopping is only in Canada. Now that it’s summer I was sent a few products to test out. This weekend, @MathieuLLF and I went to Wonderland and thought it was the perfect time to test out the Sunscreen lotion and lip sun screen.  (Click to enlarge image below)

gluten free, vegan, aireater, Green beaver, CanadianWe tried the Green Beaver sunscreen and it was very impressive. It didn’t blotch up, it went on smooth and it wasn’t whitening like other natural sunscreens we’ve tried.

Last weekend we used Alba sunscreen and were incredibly disappointed with how streaky it was and how we looked kinda gross and even whiter than usual. Though this product is vegan, Alba says they cannot guarantee their products did not come in contact with glutenous ingredients. Mat didn’t have a reaction, but it’s still not something we’re going to risk again now that we have Green Beaver products.

I love that Green Beaver products are:
– Eco friendly
– Biodegradable
– Gluten Free
– Vegan (who wants to rub animal fats all over your body?)
– 100% Natural, Certified organic
– Approved by Health Canada
– Non silicon coated
– Non  synthetic or chemical materials
– Not tested on animals

Fantastic Canadian made products that really work without the chemicals.

I also was lucky enough to be sent a few of the new Lip Gloss line called Splendicious Lips. I received:

aireater, air eater, vegan, gluten free, Green Beaver

– Bordeaux
– Amour
– Rose
– Natural

All of the squeeze tube had a safety seal, which I thought was good, it’s so gross when you see lipsticks that have been opened and used. Good thinking on the packaging part. I tried Natural and Amour together, I really liked how I only needed to squeeze a tiny bit to feel the product and smoothed it on my lips. I’m too shy to show a picture of what my lips looked like, but I was very impressed, they looked like a million bucks. Picture the shimmery lips of any fashion magazine. I felt like I was treating my lips to a glamourous hollywood look. Very nice indeed.

Splendicious Lips are made with Canadian organic cranberry seed oil and are free of beeswax/carmine free.  As all gloss goes, my lips are a bit sticky when I smack them, but I really don’t mind. My lips feel hydrated and I adore the bit of colour. They also smell fresh and not chemically. I don’t think these are out in market yet, but I would suggest them if you’re looking for a cruelty free, gluten free, vegan alternative to lipstick and commercial lip gloss.

To add to the sunscreen and lip product line, Green Beaver also sent their Non-Whitening Lip Moisturizer SPF 15.

This product is also vegan and gluten free as well as biodegradable and all the other wonderful benefits that come with Green Beaver products. I liked this just as much, it went on smooth, I didn’t have white lips and it lasted for an hour (as I was drinking a lot of water it did come off a bit). I apply lip balm often on a regular basis and this product kept pace with me. I like that it has UVA/UVB production and is hypoallergenic. It’s made with cupuaçc butter, which apparently is rich in natural antioxidants.

I can’t say enough good things about Green Beaver products. I would love to hear from you, if you’ve tried them, or what your thoughts are on such products.Email Me!

Happy safe sunbathing!
